Question: what’s hotter — Miss Fontana’s editorial, or her nail polish line?
NYC 133 Purple Pizzazz (Frost): Gorgeous grape with blue shimmer, but like many in this line, very sheer. I must have put four coats on the nail wheel tab for this, and it was still thin (so is the brush, which doesn’t help matters).
Essence Beauty Beats TE 01 Baby, Baby, Ooh!: This is the only Justin Bieber polish I didn’t buy originally. When my purple bug stung and I went back to the shop for it, I ended up getting it free due to discounts + coupons! Two coats on the nail wheel, and it’s a stunner with one. Much better coverage and opacity than the bottle content divulges. Less shimmer and dustiness than in the bottle, additional depth on the nail. If you dig purple and see this on stands, grab several!
Risqué Isabeli Fontana Psico: Three coats, and still the sheerest in the parade. Lighter and redder-leaning than she appears in the bottle. Perhaps you have to be Brazilian for Brazilian varnishes to work properly — none of mine cures after hours of wait time due to too many coats, and I end up with too many coats due precisely to sheerness! But oh, how I love Isabeli Fontana’s collection. Thus, I’ll keep trying…
Barry M 161 Vivid Purple: A gift from alelvi123 as consolation for Catrice Forget Me Not being discontinued, since they’re purportedly similar. If I had to choose only one from the bunch, this would be it. My eye gravitates to it again and again, and the formula and two-coat application was splendid. Neither too light, nor too dark. Never ever looks black.
Catrice 32 The Dark Knight: Also a gift from alelvi123 (she’s the mistress architect of our jointly-owned Purple Palace o’ Polish). This is nice except for the horrific manita de gato Catrice gave to their brushes and brush stems. Two coats and it’s almost TOO opaque.
Essence Colour & Go 148 Prom-berry: Another building block from alelvi123 toward the edification of the Purple Palace. Better brush than Catrice; otherwise, it was difficult to spot a difference between the two. Two coats for good measure, but again, vamp in extremis out of direct sunlight.
