Jade Twist is not actually holographic:  it’s a sheer multichrome that struts its stuff best over dark varnishes.

Done late last year … upcoming are the 2016 additions!

The new comparison chips (Chanel x 2 + SH are 3x each) are 2x each …

Well, Brazilian ladies … it appears you have your own “poor girl” version of the Chanels in Top Beauty Esquenta Chocolate Quente!

What’s cooking?

Culinary works in progress in the café kitchen…

Kitchen works in progress (3)

A new comparison, as I’ve since got my hands on Dior 545 Psychedelic Orange and others…

1 – OPI Live. Love. Carnaval

2 – Dior 545 Psychedelic Orange

3 – OPI Mod-ern Girl

4 – WnW Heatwave

5 – Paul & Joe Midnight Sangria Summer 2015 – Annatto

6 – American Apparel Poppy

7 – Bourjois Prepp’ hibiscus

I reallyreally want to buy Chanel Coquelicot so I can stick ‘er next to AA Poppy and see how two namesakes compare…

But after amassing the bunch above (and I have so. many. more. PFFs. to add to these, gah!), it’s already too overwhelming to consider.

I’m holding off on showing the comparison I did above in greater detail until Dior 638 Aloha arrives from Germany (along with three other Dior Vernis travel mates).

Now I don’t feel compelled to repurchase Chanel Holiday, something I would be loathe to do!

Kitchen works in progress

Also on the boil are (more) pink + orange + red holos…

1 – Color Club Cloud Nine

2 – Jade New Collection Aurora

3 – Dance Legend Spectrum

4 – Jade New Collection Sunset

5 – Layla Red Taboo (from cilucia‘s blog sale a while back)

Kitchen works in progress (2)

Newly-arrived Brits simmering on a slow flame…

1 – Models Own Midsummer Mauve

2 – Models Own Paradise Pink

3 – Barry M Textured Nail Effect Duchess

Just drooling over these and cannot wait to taste!!!

Kitchen works in progress (5)

Intended as the 4th of July plat du jour, but it’s been in the warmer so long that I definitely missed that dinner party…

1 – Essence Effect Nail Polish – Baby, You’re a Firework

2 – OPI Katy Perry – Teenage Dream

3 – OPI Katy Perry – The One That Got Away

4 – OPI Katy Perry – Not Like the Movies

5 – OPI Katy Perry – Last Friday Night

I was feeling really blah about the nail collections I’ve seen of late, and was nostalgically looking to regain my mojo.

Katy Perry does that for me; her music (much to the chagrin of my teenaged son) as well as her OPI collection.

The mere act of swatching the KP members I have (sans black shatter) brought back all of the bright and shiny newness of entering into nail varnish addiction.

Kitchen works in progress (4)

Last but certainly not least (actually, this was a major holdup as it just arrived in the post today) is (1) Dance Legend Chameleon – The Knight.

The label is Russian-only, and I’ve seen the name both ways in English (Knight, The Knight).  I don’t know if definite articles exist in Russian…

This is a varnish I never thought I would see in real life.

Since blueberry milk tea is three years old this month, I thought to do (and will, now that The Knight is here!) a series of nostalgic posts harking back to 2012, 2013, 2014 and what was the featured dish here in July of each of those years.

The first thing I did was gather all of my Chanel Peridot PFFs, since that was my very first post, as well as the first volume of the Multichrome Comparison Library.

But I no longer have the grandmama Chanel, and really do not like her enough to repurchase at scalper prices.

Enter DL The Knight, an ingredient I absolutely adore… and she (well, he…) was in stock online for once!

So here you have a behind-the-scenes glimpse of what’s cooking on all burners in the café kitchen.

This lineup wasn’t what I had intended to show you as the star of the post, but it turned out best, so it got bumped up to first place! 🙂

Photo belongs to Hanatsuki blog.  Thank you!

I have really tried to get my paws on Smelly varnishes, but Japanese mail and package services will not ship nail varnish out of Japan, in spite of my having successfully navigated the Urban Research web site and managing to fill my online shopping cart with a selection of lovely Smelly bottles.

Grrr…

So I bought Revlon Colorstay Hold ‘Em to tide me over.  In real life, it looks very close to Hanatsuki’s image above.

Misa Fashionista, Zoya Odette, Revlon Colorstay Hold ‘Em, Barry M Vintage Violet, Peripera PP109

The two lineups below are what I had initially plucked for this post.

First thing on a Saturday morning, totally spontaneously and completely forgetting about my a.m. exercises and the scads of other things I had planned for the nail café this weekend…

RBL Forgiveness (they sent me a new bottle to replace the broken but “rescued” one)

EL Insatiable (The varnish to end all varnishes.  I don’t know where my eyeballs were when this came out, but I only recently discovered it and of course had to have it.  I obtained it for a great price on the auction site, from a seller in Germany who sent it to me completely unsecured in a basic file envelope, half falling out of its beaten-up-by-the-international-postal-service box, but still intact and unbroken.  The flimsy unpadded envelope also had “nail polish” listed on the customs label, so I’m relieved and grateful I even have it to show to you here!)

Color Club Shabby Drab.  Been seeing lots of images of this lately and every time I do, I think, gotta get that one…

Of course I already have it, untried among my scads of dusty greyed blurples.

Givenchy Lilas d’Exception.  Truly an exceptional varnish, and difficult to photograph accurately enough to do justice to its beauty.

And below we have the outliers I had originally chosen for the above lineups.

They were either too bright, too blue, too red, too saturated, too dusty, too something to be featured above, yet still all kinds of gorge in their own right.

Surely you won’t mind? … 🙂

Sally Girl Chillax, Essie Garden Variety, China Glaze My Way or the Highway

Essie and ChG are greener than this in real life…

SONY DSC

Essie Garden Variety, China Glaze My Way or the Highway, Rimmel 60 Seconds Rita Ora Do Not Disturb

Rita is also greener than she appears here.

SONY DSC

The aforementioned, with Orly Teal Unreal tacked onto the end.  Orly is indeed greener in real life, as well.

SONY DSC

Not Sally Girl Chillax – she does lean blue.  Must be chiquita pero picosa — tiny, but influencing the big ‘uns nearby

SONY DSC

L. A. Colors Color Craze Jungle Fever, Colorama Africa a Vista Mar Sem Fim, Essence C&G Trust in Fashion

Jungle Fever holds a special place in my heart due to unusual immense self-control in restraining myself from buying her on repeated trips to an Asian grocery store.  She was less than $1 USD, but in those lean days of 2012, I had very little money for extras.  Thus, I always consider her fondly.  🙂

SONY DSC

Ginger + Liz Stress Management, Impala Disco Azul Pavao

SONY DSC

Sinful Colors Last Chance, Catrice Hugo Moss

SONY DSC

Not sure about Last Chance (this and SC Envy live in the varnish warehouse untried), but Hugo Moss seems to be a great economical alternative to NARS Zulu.

xx blueberry milk tea

P.S.  I gave both Zulu and Galion away untried.

P.P.S.  Nail wheels are in short supply at the shops these days!
