308 (the label fell off the bottom, so I took advantage by tipping the bottle to show you this amazing little wonder)

This post has taken me an entire day to complete, and I’m still not done at past 11:00 p.m.!

My internet is super duper slow due to it being the end of the month, hopefully all of the images will load properly and I can add a few photos of the completed 6-6-6 wheel tomorrow …

De todo un poco

Spoils of my celebratory, self-congratulatory end-of-workweek discount retailer haul:

TGIF!

First off, the blues:

Orly Midnight Show, Fall 2015, $4 USD

SpaRitual Midnight Stroll, Fall 2013, $3 USD

From Spring 2014 Les Blancs:  Mint Glacee, Sweet Lilac, A La Meringue

$2 USD each.  My collection of all six Les Blancs is now complete!

OPI Sheer Tints, Spring 2014 (I culled this information online from several sources, but only remember these being introduced to the market in my area in Spring 2015.  I held out for the Essie versions instead, but never saw the full size bottles anywhere, only the mini quad…)

OPI Peanuts, Hallowe’en 2014

I’m Never Amberrassed, $4 USD

I Can Teal You Like Me, $4 USD

Where’s My Blanket???, $4 USD

To Be Or Not To Beagle, $4 USD

Limo-Scene, salon label, $4 USD

Brides No Grooms, Bridal 2015, $4 USD

Happy Wife, Happy Life, Bridal 2015, $4 USD

By choice, I now only lack one member of the Essie Bridal 2015 collection … 🙂

Fade Into Hue

Keep Calm, Paint On

Both from Avant Garden Spring 2013, $3 USD each

Sally Hansen Color Frenzy Candy Drops, 2014

Sally Hansen Triple Shine Make A Splash (no shimmer, I’ve seen versions with and sans shimmer), 2015

Sally Hansen CSM Perfect Pair, Bridal 2015

All, $2 USD

*************

The most laborious phase of this haul was peeling off the sticky residue from the huge, messy price labels.

I grabbed thick, clear strips of shipping tape to help with this task.

Not one of these bottles, however, had leaked or been opened or tested.

I’ve been disappointed of late in receiving some quite pricey (and supposedly new) varnishes in the post that I’ve had to give a good douse of acetone ’round the gunky necks… so this was a surprisingly refreshing and rewarding shopping excursion!

Background is Fudge magazine (August 2015), Miu Miu pre-Fall 2015 editorial

Flowered mini-tote is from a Milkfed (Sofia Coppola’s Japan-only brand) 2011 mook

Endless Summer: homenaje en gris a la fauna marina del litoral mexicano

pezvela-logo

Above image courtesy of desigbarcelona.com.  Identity system for a beautifully designed restaurant…

Inspired to organization of my expansive collection of greys by one of my Spanish paperback compendiums listing, among many other proud facts, the flora and fauna indigenous to the Mexican republic. Actually, I had set up this color lineup the night prior, and by chance picked up my mini enciclopedia en rústica this lazy Sunday morning, savoring its content and fishing for a way to tie it into my other passion, nail varnish. This is the result of my imagination’s wanderings. 🙂

Mini OPI NYC Ballet Sheers My Pointe Exactly, salvaged several times with thinner, since it keeps drying out on me!

Mini Icing by Claire’s, part of an unnamed quad set of sparkly cloudy blue-gray variations.  Should have been placed with this group.

Risqué Silver Shine, gifted to me by S. in Sao Paulo after I had already purchased Bonita Dying to Party.  Dying to Party is from a Hallowe’en collection that was made available in early summer!  I had set it aside and meant to feature it for Hallowe’en, but I never got round to that project.  These two are likely PFFs; we will find out together when I swatch all greys in a subsequent post.  Beautiful shimmer in both; I wonder how close they are to YSL Gris Deco, which I refrain from purchasing due to owning this duo…

SONY DSC

Cool dusty blue-greys:  Zoya Kristen, Paul & Joe 13 Koala Bear, Orly Boho Bonnet, Dior Junon 494

SONY DSC

Warmer bluegreen-greys (these differ in tone from the former category, especially in a lineup):  Color Club Sheer Disguise, China Glaze The Giver LE Intelligence Integrity & Courage, Urban Outfitters Barstool, Sally Hansen CSM Gray by Gray.

El cachalote, or sperm whale.  Photo courtesy of vamosabucear.com.

SONY DSC

Dusty blue-lavender leaning greys:  NARS Galathee, Zoya Carey, Essie Cocktail Bling, Misa Deep Breath

SONY DSC

The outlier duo:  NYC Sidewalkers, Zoya Geneviev.  These fit nowhere above or below, while still being definitively grey.  Inserted here to break up any monotony.  🙂

SONY DSC

Above and below, continuing with the blue-lavender leaning grays, darker on the spectrum now:

Bernhard Willhelm for Uslu Airlines SBT San Bernardino.  I recently purchased several Uslu Airlines varnishes and love each more than the last.  SBT is particularly special since I spent the first seventeen years of my life in San Bernardino.  Smog alerts are prevalent and were announced often throughout parochial school.  I was always under the youthful impression it was one word:  smoglert.

Nicole by OPI Keep Your Gray Job.  I braved Wal-Mart for this beauty.  In an aisle where every surface of the nail varnish displays and even the floor are splattered and painted a la Jackson Pollock, this bottle was pristine and unopened.

Maybelline Color Show Impeccable Greys.  Picked her up whilst at Wal-Mart, as well.

Zoya Kelly.  Ñam ñam.

SONY DSC

Above and below:  Orly Mirror Mirror, Misa Working Hard or Hardly Working, SpaRitual Smoke & Mirrors, Charlotte Russe Concrete Jungle

Methinks Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Wet Cement might fit here also, but she’s been in the paint recycling bin in my garage ever since someone gifted her to me in a swap long ago.  I was late to the party as always re catching on to these varnish tones and thought Wet Cement a cruel joke, lol…

New in, deeply discounted and just as beloved

Oh, these ever-changing, wildly shifting colour mood swings o’mine.

Always tardy to the party, but when I do fall, it’s hard… smack into clay and cement this Sunday afternoon.

Prices I paid:  SpaRitual $3, Essie $5, Sinful Colors $1, OPI $4 USD each…

I’ll be receiving Lippmann Waking Up in Vegas in a varnish exchange some time next week! Now if I could only get each of my paws around Catrice ASHley and Absolutely Chinchilly…

Must resist the urge to hack my nails down to short and chic to properly don these pretties before my water decals arrive in the post from Hong Kong (otherwise they won’t fit, my nail beds are so small!).

Quite a few Essie bottles to add to the corresponding drawer (open me), and I’m initiating an OPI tab shortly for your reading pleasure 🙂

I purchased all of these at 50-75% off the usual $12 USD retail price.  I haven’t done my homework thoroughly enough to know if I have the entire collection.  Initially, I only had the blue, purple and gold bottles.  The gold one became a fast favorite due to its amazing color shifts in the bottle.  I later happened upon Imagination (second from right in the image above) at another shop, and lastly, at yet a third shop, Improvisation (far left in the image above).  Fiery Improvisation with its gold, silvery blue and pink color shifts would have been beyond perfect for CNY, but I didn’t yet own this little firecracker on the occasion…

What I did wear on the advent of the Year of the Horse… 2x SpaRitual Invention, 1x FingerPaints Symmetrical Symphony (a new flocado I haven’t shown to you yet). Obviously, another washed-out, unedited phone pic… in real life, it was, well, explosive!
